History and Affiliation

Federated Church began in 1948 when the recently formed West Lafayette Christian Church “federated” with the West Lafayette Baptist Church to offer a stronger witness in West Lafayette. Originally meeting in the renamed West Lafayette Baptist Church, and despite renovations during the 1950’s, the facility was quickly outgrown. A new building was completed in 1963 and expanded in 1975 at our present location – 2400 Sycamore Lane.

Listen here to the audio made when Federated celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1998 where several living charter members of Federated’s 1948 beginnings were interviewed. This audio is a delightful walk down memory lane and a testament to the faith and perseverance of those who believe anything could be done in the Lord’s name.

Today, the congregation continues its service to the greater Lafayette area and maintains it original affiliations with the Disciples of Christ and the American Baptists

Those Who Have Served
