Practicing the Spiritual Disciplines

Internal habits like meditation, prayer, fasting and study, external habits like simplicity, solitude, submission, service and shared disciplines such as confession, worship, guidance and celebration, are an essential part to spiritual growth.

With this in mind Federated offers the following learning opportunities in 2007-2008:

St. Benedict on the Freeway: Searching for a bit of tranquility among the chaos of daily life? If so, then plan to share in this group study of St. Benedict on the Freeway, which will be held from February 10 through March 16 at 9:00 a.m. in the parlor.

Pastor Mills will facilitate this seminar on Corrine Ware's acclaimed book, which seeks to apply the prayer and reflection schedule found in the Order of St. Benedict to modern life.

Living the Resurrection: The Risen Christ in an Everyday Life:

The resurrection of Jesus is not simply proof of Jesus' divinity nor is it something Christians should celebrate on only one day of the liturgical year and then forget. The resurrection has crucial relevance for our formation every day.

From these opening words Eugene Peterson leads an examination of relationships and rituals that will enable the willing to better live the resurrection life. Come share in this group study of Peterson's thoughts that will be held from March 30 through May 11. Pastor Mills will facilitate these sessions, which will be held at 9:00 a.m. in the parlor.
