Diversity That Nurtures

Federated Church was first a "federation" or combination of two congregations, the Disciples of Christ and the American Baptists. Today, it has grown to be an exciting and dynamic church of more than 240 families from 35 faith traditions. This creates a diverse and accepting community of faith in which every member is free to seek God in his or her own way.

Youth Ministries

Sunday School for Grades 9-12:   Youth in grades 9-12 meet with Marcile Eddy Sundays at 10:45 am in the recently-renovated room 1.  Discussions are free-flowing and focus on a fresh, new look at their faith and its impact on their lives.

Children's Ministries

Nursery:  We have a hired child care provider to staff our nursery every Sunday morning.  The nursery opens at 9:15 and child care is available until 12:15 pm.  This allows parents and visitors to attend Sunday School, small group meetings and worship while their children are in a safe, loving environment.

Worship & Wonder:  Children Worship and Wonder is offered for children in Pre-K through 1st grade during the adult worship time.  Children hear Bible stories and learn about God while experiencing the presence of God.  The stories are told in a way that allows the listeners to enter into the stories and form responses out of their own life experiences.    They learn the meaning of church traditions and have opportunities to participate in worship practices.  We have a lovely Children's Worship center built in 2003 just for this program.  The church is fortunate to have three staff members trained and certified by a Disciples seminary in this ministry.

Children's Time:  Each Sunday after our congregational announcements, period of meditation and the singing of hymns, all the children are invited to the front of the sanctuary for a short children's story.  Children are very important at Federated and this is a special time in our service to cherish our youngest members.  After the Children's Time, the children are dismissed to attend Worship & Wonder, to attend a Sunday School class or to rejoin their parents for the remainder of the service.

Market Place and Vacation Bible School:  Every summer usually in early to mid June our church family sets aside a week to celebrate the Children in the church.  Kids age 3 through grade 6 are invited to join in the fun and festivities of a traditional Vacation Bible School or a 29AD Market Place with tax collectors, beggars, shop keepers, fresh bread baked daily and other authentic teachings and Dramas from early Bible Times.  This program is free and all are welcome to participate or volunteer.

Sunday School for Pre-K through 5th Grade:  After Children's Time in the sanctuary, our pre-K through 5th graders are dismissed to their classes that meet in the lower part of our education wing.

F.I.S.H.:  Friends In Spiritual Health is our grade 6-8 youth group that meets from 11:45 am until 1:15 pm.  Our kids have fun and fellowship mixed with some mission projects during this time.  We have fun welcoming our neighbors, going bowling, working on various mission projects, making posters of encouragement for our friends and family, having parties, making pottery and going to the movies.  Come join us; it's lots of fun!
